Our expectations of the applicant

The position requires at least a master's degree in a relevant field, but a doctoral degree is advantageous for the position. We expect applicants to have a university degree in geoinformatics, cartography, computer science, and/or another relevant field.
We are looking for individuals with extensive IT skills. In particular we expect expertise in several of the following areas:
• Operating in a Linux environment
• Programming experience (e.g., Python, JavaScript, C++)
• Geospatial technologies (GIS) and managing spatial data in databases
• Geovisualisation
• Using and developing web APIs (e.g., REST API, OGC API for geospatial data)
• Understanding and using artificial intelligence methods
• Scientific writing
We expect applicants to have good written and oral proficiency in English.

We are looking for a keen researcher who is able to work both independently and in a team and who is self-motivated but not afraid to ask for help. Experience in research, a willingness to learn new things and to work in an international research environment would be an advantage.

    The department of Geoinformatics and Cartography (FGI-GEOINFO) of the FGI focuses its research on methods of management, sharing, processing, analyzing, visualizing, and presentation of spatial data, and promotes the extensive scientific and societal utilization of spatial data. The department's operating principle is high-quality international scientific research and demonstration of the innovation potential of spatial data.

  • Basis of remuneration: The salary for the position is determined according to the National Land Survey's salary system based on the individual's experience and education. The position-specific salary component ranges from pay grade 9 (€3052.92) to a maximum of pay grade 11 (€4056.47). In addition to the position-specific salary, a performance-based salary component is paid based on personal performance, which vary from 0% to 45% of the standard salary for the position.
