The Arts Promotion Centre Finland (Taike) is hiring for a temporary position as an Art Expert for the period 1.12.2025 – 31.12.2027.
The job of the Art Expert is to anticipate and monitor the development of artistic freedom in Finland and internationally. The aim is to promote open and diverse public debate on the freedom of art and expression, as well as to increase understanding of its importance for a civilised country, overall security and social stability. The task is to establish and strengthen Finland's position in the Nordic and international cooperation network to promote the freedom of speech and expression of artists, as well as to prepare recommendations on national-level mechanisms to safeguard artistic freedom.
The Art Expert works within Taike’s Arts and Culture Networks Unit and its Inclusion Unit. The unit promotes the status of the arts and culture in society and multi-administrative structures. Its task is to promote the nationwide availability and accessibility of the arts and culture and the participation of everyone in the arts and culture, in part by influencing structures, legislation and policy programmes.

Relevant university degree
• Relevant university degree
• At least five years of experience in expert work in art and culture environments
• Practical experience in working in international networks
• Understanding of issues related to freedom of speech, freedom of expression and freedom of the arts and their societal dimensions
• Experience and expertise in strategic communications
• Good written and oral expression in Finnish and English
• Experience in building networks
• Organisational skills and initiative, as well as the ability to work both independently and in collaboration
The following are considered advantages
• Experience in art and cultural policy advocacy or work related to legislative processes
• Knowledge of international and European structures and networks, especially Nordic cooperation
• Understanding of overall security and societal stability from the perspective of the arts and culture
• Experience in project planning and implementation, especially in international contexts

The Arts Promotion Centre Finland (Taike) is an expert and service agency for promoting the arts. Taike’s mission is to promote the arts on both the national and international levels. Taike together with its arts councils and boards awards government grants to professional artists and communities in the arts sector. Taike operates under the Ministry of Education and Culture.
Taike has approximately 70 employees, including administrative staff (civil servants) and fixed-term experts. Fixed-term Art Experts and Artist Experts work with art and culture networks, as well as issues concerning inclusion and regionality. Administrative staff work, for example, as Presenting Officers and Planning Officers for government grants and in shared services.
Taike has offices in ten regional offices, and our head office is in Helsinki.
The Arts Promotion Centre Finland (Taike) and the National Audiovisual Institute (KAVI) are preparing to merge into a new agency as of 1 January 2026. The restructuring is part of the Education and Culture Administration 2030 reform project of the Ministry of Education Culture.
