The Natural Resources Institute Finland (Luke) aims to provide modern, open and impactful research infrastructure services for natural resources research—both nationally and internationally. The availability and quality of Luke’s research infrastructure services are continuously developed in close collaboration with national and international partners.
Your role as a Principal Specialist:
We are seeking an experienced Principal Specialist in research infrastructure development, with the ability to work in demanding roles related to strategic research, research infrastructure funding, and the development of research infrastructures at both national and international levels.
You will be part of the Research Infrastructure Services, Data and Methods Development team, contributing to the development of the research infrastructures provided by Luke. You will play a key role in supporting responsible researchers in preparing development plans for research infrastructures, as well as in securing funding.
You will:
• Coordinate the utilisation of national and international funding opportunities for Luke’s research infrastructures (including regional, national, Nordic and European funding sources)
• Strengthen the visibility of Luke’s technology infrastructures both nationally and internationally
• Support the integration of Luke’s research and technology infrastructures into client-oriented work
• Contribute to ensuring the safe and responsible use of research infrastructures

Successful performance in this role requires:
• A relevant postgraduate (Master’s) degree
• Experience in the development of research and/or technology infrastructures
• Understanding of the role of research infrastructure services in research
• Experience in preparing development plans for research infrastructures, as well as in funding preparation and applications
• Experience of national and/or international research environments
• Experience in network and/or project management
• Excellent communication, writing and interpersonal skills
• Excellent command of English
• Strong coordination and execution skills, and the ability to work under time pressure
• Ability to operate in a multicultural working environment
• Willingness to travel nationally and internationally
We also value
• A doctoral degree
• Experience with Academy of Finland, Business Finland and/or EU-funded research projects, particularly in relation to research infrastructures
• Knowledge of national and international requirements and development trends in the conceptualisation and development of research infrastructure services
• Experience in developing or coordinating research services
• Good command of Finnish
• An enthusiastic, proactive, development-oriented and solution-focused working approach

- More information: Each person selected will undergo a sanctions check based on compliance with international and national sanctions obligations. - Remote work: Possibility to work remotely
- Description of the remote work: Mobile work is used at Luke. This means that work is performed where it suits best. Mobile work is only possible within Finland, and the practices of mobile work are agreed with the supervisor. We also meet regularly face-to-face.
- Working time format: Office working hours
- Trial period: The trial period is half the duration of the employment contract, but not exceeding six (6) months.
- Remuneration information: The position is at complexity level 10-11 in Luke's salary system and the position specific salary is EUR 4498,7-5067,69 per month. In addition, a salary component based on personal performance will be paid (max. 50% of the position specific salary). A new employee's personal performance component depends on competence and experience and generally falls in the range of 15-20 %. The applicant may also present a separate salary request.
