  • A circular economy transformation requires market changes supporting competitiveness of circular solutions. The Finnish Environment Institute is looking for a postdoctoral researcher in market development for circular solutions for a 3-year position.

The postdoctoral researcher explores the state, development possibilities and hindrances related to markets for circular solutions. The work focuses on the opportunities of the EU and national level policies to steer market reorganization, the value creation strategies of companies, and consumer preferences. The postdoctoral researcher integrates economic modelling with policy and organization analysis to examine the economic, environmental and societal impacts of market reorganization. Key tasks of the postdoctoral researcher involve implementation of the specific postdoctoral research project as well as participation in the existing Finnish Environment Institute (Syke) projects with economic modelling focus and applying for new research funding.

This postdoc position is part of Postdoctoral Programme for Research Institutes. This funding enables recruitment of 85 PhD-level experts to 12 Finnish government research institutes between 2025 and 2028. The aim of the Programme is to strengthen RDI competence in areas important to society. Postdoctoral researcher will conduct goal-oriented high-level research at the interface between the academic community, industry and administration. The Programme supports postdoctoral researcher’s networking and mobility between sectors.

The task will be positioned to the Circular economy solutions unit at Syke. Syke maintains offices in Helsinki, Joensuu, Jyväskylä, and Oulu, providing flexibility for the location of this role.
