    Intern (Software Development)

    The Geological Survey of Finland (GTK) is looking for an intern for software development to join the Digital Solutions team within the Information Solutions unit. Your office is in Espoo or Kuopio. You will work in GTK’s multi-purpose workspace, with the possibility of flexible remote work in Finland. Your tasks will involve modern application development as part of GTK’s software development team and its product development. We use agile methods, modern technologies, tools and equipment. Technologies we use include Microsoft Visual Studio, VS Code, Git and Azure. The programming languages we primarily use are JavaScript (React.js) and C#. Your responsibilities will include software development in a multidisciplinary team. You will work both in a team and independently, developing new solutions.

    You will be working in the approximately 55-person Information Solutions unit, where experts focus on data management and geoinformation. The Digital Solutions team consists of 13 specialists.

    GTK’s summer intern positions are targeted for graduate students that have not yet graduated.

    Education, experience and skills expected of the applicant

    • Studies in computer science, information technology or another relevant field provide the best foundation for this role.
    • Understanding of the basics of software development.
    • Experience in web technologies (e.g., React.js, .NET Core, Node.js, REST APIs).
    • Fluent written and oral skills in English.

    Education, experience and skills that are appreciated

    • Previous experience in application development.
    • Experience with agile methodologies.
    • Knowledge about geospatial technologies.
