Intern (Geophysics, 2 positions)
The Geological Survey of Finland (GTK) is looking for two interns for Geophysical Solutions Unit, Espoo office. As an intern you will participate in different geophysical studies e.g. in environmental, groundwater or raw materials related topics. Your tasks can include measurements in the field or in the laboratory as well as processing results in the office.
Geophysical Solutions Unit is a multi-method, multi-located and multicultural team, offering you diverse tasks. Our unit has 38 people, and Ores and Bedrock team, where you would work, has 14. Our specialists are working in the field, in the laboratory, in customer projects and in scientific studies. We utilize and develop geophysical solutions on wide spectrum, e.g. in the fields of seismics, EM-methods, environmental geophysics and petrophysics.
GTK’s summer intern positions are targeted for graduate students that have not yet graduated.
Education, experience and skills expected of the applicant
• You study geophysics, geology, physics or other applicable subject at university level.
• You are familiar with common office programs.
• You can work in English.
• You are ready to travel and work in the field, if needed. Your tasks might include travelling and field work in Finland.
Education, experience and skills that are appreciated
• Driving license
• Skills in using Geographic Information Systems (ArcGIS)
• Geophysics as the main study subject

The position is fixed term on 1.6.-31.8.2026 or by agreement. The position includes a probationary period of one month.
The person chosen for this position has the opportunity to discuss about writing a thesis for GTK during the recruiting process.
