Would you like to apply your expertise to promote sustainable use of renewable natural resources? We are seeking a Development Manager to implement artificial intelligence and other emerging technologies across our research institute’s operations.

We are looking for an experienced Development Manager for a permanent position to lead Luke’s AI journey and other strategic digital transformation initiatives.

The position is in the IT and Digitalization (DIGI) service group, which consists of nearly 40 IT professionals at the Natural Resources Institute Finland. Together with our researchers, we are at the forefront of developing new digital solutions and data resources for the sustainable use of natural resources both in Finland and globally. We improve Luke's data management and maintain data collection, analysis, and publishing services used in research, statistics, and statutory work.

In this role, you will be central to developing strategic digital capabilities and operational models. AI, cloud services, data spaces, IoT, and quantum computing are reshaping data management value chains, digital service production, and expert work. Our cloud transition is well underway, and we’ve already applied AI in tasks like species recognition, crop yield forecasting, and automated translation. Next, we aim to automate repetitive tasks, enhance AI competence among staff, and apply AI in solving research challenges.

Success in this role requires the ability to lead the implementation of new technologies and drive change in operational models. You will collaborate closely with Luke’s units, researchers, and other actors in public administration. Your responsibility is to assess and identify areas where digital technology can cost-effectively improve operations. You will oversee project progress and develop service delivery and operating models to ensure new solutions bring added value to Luke.

We offer a relaxed working environment where you can grow your skills in a supportive team. We believe in teamwork and a positive attitude for the best results. The work can be done flexibly in terms of time and place, but face-to-face meetings with colleagues will support your success in this role. Working hours are flexible, and work-life balance is considered excellent. We invest in staff wellbeing and continuous skill development.
