Are you skilled in metagenomics or metabarcoding techniques? Are you interested to measure human exposure to biodiversity utilizing DNA-based approaches? Are you enthusiastic to work in the frontline of the scientific knowledge?
ERC Staring Grant project Residents focuses on the role of biodiversity in programming the development of immune system in infants and the health impacts of biodiversity exposure. To enable this research, we are developing DNA-based approach to measure human exposure to biodiversity across kingdoms of life: We are now looking for a Senior researcher to work in this essential part of the project.
Your task is to develop a DNA-based methodology for measuring several taxonomic groups from environmental samples using metagenomics and/or metabarcoding techniques. You will use this technique to measure how people, especially infants, are exposed to biodiversity along the gradient of environmental conditions. You will publish high-quality scientific articles from the outcomes of the research. You will work together with bioinformatician, research assistants, laboratory assistant and Principal researcher. At host institution, several other projects are currently developing DNA-based biodiversity monitoring which provides a supporting research environment for this work.
Senior Research Scientist will work at Urban nature group in the Built Environment Solutions unit. The position will be located at Sykes Helsinki office.
