    We are seeking temporary researchers for diverse project tasks at the department of Geoinformatics and Cartography of the National Land Survey's Geospatial Research Institute, for the period from May 5, 2025, to December 31, 2026.

    The tasks are primarily related to two EU-funded projects promoting the interoperability and exploitation of geospatial data. In the Location Innovation Hub project, the researcher will develop the Location Europe and Location Finland data platforms and their programming interfaces. The data platforms will provide national and European geospatial data to support new business innovation. In the EOSC AquaINFRA project, the researcher will develop discovery, access, sharing and processing services to facilitate the exploitation of multi-disciplinary European marine and freshwater data.

    The position requires at least a master's degree in a relevant field, but a doctoral degree is advantageous for the position. We expect applicants to have a university degree in computer science, geoinformatics, and/or another relevant field.

    We are looking for a keen researcher who is able to work both independently and in a team and who is self-motivated but not afraid to ask for help. In addition, we are looking for individuals with extensive IT skills. In particular, we expect expertise in several of the following areas:
    • Operating in a Linux environment
    • Programming experience (e.g., Python, JavaScript, C++)
    • Geospatial information technologies and managing spatial data in databases
    • Using and developing web APIs (e.g., REST API, OGC API for geospatial data)
    • Scientific writing

    Preferred qualifications include:
    Experience in metadata services and schema transformations related to their interoperability, artificial intelligence methods and research, as well as willingness to learn new things by working in an international research environment would be an advantage.

The operating principle of the department is high-level international scientific research and the elucidation of the potential for innovation in the geospatial data field.
