Apply as a Postdoctoral Researcher in Space Geodesy at the National Land Survey's Geospatial Research Institute!
We are seeking talented postdoctoral researchers for the National Land Survey's Geospatial Research Institute in a three-year fixed-term position from June 1, 2025, to May 31, 2028.
The Space Geodesy Research Group of the department of Geodesy and Geodynamics is looking for a postdoctoral researcher to do novel research related to space geodetic techniques at the Metsähovi Geodetic Research Station. Metsähovi is a core station of the Global Geodetic Observing System hosting a large array of modern geodetic techniques such as VLBI, SLR, and GNSS.
Possible projects may involve, but are not limited to, e.g. orbit determination, geodetic variables, modelling, instrumentation errors, improving precision, atmospheric/ionospheric effects, polarization effects, interstellar effects, radio source structure effects, spin-offs using data for any other purposes.
The Candidate is expected to propose her/his own preliminary research plan of 1-2 pages, to be completed during the selection process and at the beginning of the employment.
This postdoctoral position is part of the Finnish state research institutes' postdoctoral program, funded by Finland’s long-term research and development plan. The program will recruit 85 new postdoctoral researchers across 12 Finnish government research institutes from 2025 to 2028. Its aim is to strengthen R&D competence in fields important to society and business. Postdoctoral researchers will conduct impactful, high-level research that combines science, industry, and government. The program also supports networking and mobility across sectors.
