Postdoctoral Researcher (Mineral system geochronology)
The Geological Survey of Finland (GTK) is looking for a Postdoctoral Researcher for the Mineral Economy Solutions unit. Your office is in Espoo and you can also work remotely partially in Finland.
Your research will focus on using novel geochronological methods applied to mineral systems to constrain the temporal development of mineral systems. This involves the geochronological targeting of minerals related to igneous processes, metamorphism, and fluid processes. Many ore deposits in Finland have been affected by the high-grade Svecofennian orogeny at 1.9-1.77 Ga, so understanding the geological significance of any obtained ages is critical for developing an understanding of the mineral system. Your assignment will include research, field work and analytical work. You will publish your results as peer-reviewed publications and scientific reports. You will be responsible for leading and planning research projects, as well as developing project proposals and their subtasks. You will plan and conduct your own field and analytical work. You will be part of an international research team and have access to our cutting-edge analytical facility hosted at GTK’s Espoo office (https://www.gtk.fi/en/research-infrastructure/research-laboratory/
This postdoc position is part of Postdoctoral Programme for Research Institutes in Finland. The Programme is funded from the Finnish long-term research and development (R&D) plan. The Programme recruits 85 new postdoctoral researchers to 12 Finnish government research institutes between 2025 and 2028. The aim of the Programme is to strengthen R&D competence in areas important to society and business. Postdoctoral researchers will drive impactful, high-level research bridging science, industry, and administration. The Programme supports postdoctoral researcher’s networking and mobility between sectors. Read more: https://tulanet.fi/postdoc/
