A doctoral degree in geoinformatics, computer science or other relevant field of science is required. The degree must have been completed within the last five years (or within ten years in special circumstances). Candidates who have been granted permission for their doctoral defense by the application deadline are also eligible. The role is open to both early-career and experienced researchers, including those already working within the research institute. The selected candidate’s experience will influence salary determination.

From the postdoc candidate we expect:
• Proficiency in deep learning architectures. Familiarity with recurrent neural networks (RNNs) and convolutional neural networks (CNNs) is also helpful.
• Knowledge on Natural Language Processing (NLP) and use of Large Language Models (LLMs)
• Strong programming experience (e.g., C/C++, Git, Python)
• Demonstrated ability to write scientific publications.

Preferred qualifications:
• Understanding on how to process, analyse and visualise geospatial data efficiently
• Experience on geospatial data management and databases
• Familiarity with geospatial data and metadata standards (e.g., ISO 19115, OGC standards)
• Familiarity with geospatial web application development is also beneficial.

Excellent proficiency in English is required for this position.
