A doctoral degree in geodesy or a relevant field is required. The degree must have been completed within the last five years (or within ten years in special circumstances). Candidates who have been granted permission for their doctoral defense by the application deadline are also eligible. The role is open to both early-career and experienced researchers, including those already working within the research institute. The selected candidate’s experience will influence salary determination.

The National Land Survey provides information, services, and research on land property. In addition to geospatial research, we conduct cadastral surveys, maintain property information, produce maps, handle registrations of title deeds and mortgages, and develop information systems.

The National Land Survey's Geospatial Research Institute (FGI) is a modern, innovative, flexible, and collaborative research and expert institution that conducts geospatial research and measurement in collaboration with universities, other research institutes, public entities, and companies in Finland and worldwide.

The Department of Geodesy and Geodynamics is responsible for the scientific basis of the national geodetic reference frames. The department currently deploys about 15 people. The department has two research groups: Reference Systems and Space Geodesy. The Reference Systems research group conducts research related to coordinate, height and gravity reference frames, transformations, international connections, geoid modelling and metrology.
