Apply as a Postdoctoral Researcher in Geodetic Reference Frames at the National Land Survey's Geospatial Research Institute!
We are seeking talented postdoctoral researchers for the National Land Survey's Geospatial Research Institute in a three-year fixed-term position from June 1, 2025, to May 31, 2028.
The reference systems research group of the department of Geodesy and Geodynamics is looking for a postdoctoral researcher to perform research related to developments in national and international geodetic reference frames. We encourage research solving the challenges in the interoperability between national spatial data and emerging technologies utilizing global coordinates and heights in presence of post-glacial rebound. We expect the use of national infrastructure built around the FinnRef permanent GNSS network of 47 CORS stations that connect the national reference frames for coordinates, height, and gravity.
The Candidate is expected to propose her/his own preliminary research plan of 1-2 pages, to be completed during the selection process and at the beginning of the employment.
This postdoctoral position is part of the Finnish state research institutes' postdoctoral program, funded by Finland’s long-term research and development plan. The program will recruit 85 new postdoctoral researchers across 12 Finnish government research institutes from 2025 to 2028. Its aim is to strengthen R&D competence in fields important to society and business. Postdoctoral researchers will conduct impactful, high-level research that combines science, industry, and government. The program also supports networking and mobility across sectors.
