The European Institute for Crime Prevention and Control, affiliated with the United Nations (HEUNI) is an independent research and development institute under the administration of the Ministry of Justice. HEUNI’s research aims to impact national, European and United Nations policies in crime prevention and control. HEUNI strives to improve the position of persons in a vulnerable position and key research themes include human trafficking and forms of exploitation, social sustainability in supply chains, criminal justice processes, and gender-based and other forms of violence.
HEUNI carries out its work through international and national research and development projects. HEUNI does applied research, and based on our research, we aim to present concrete recommendations and proposals for policymakers and practitioners.
