The administrative branch of the Ministry of Transport and Communications creates sustainable growth, wellbeing and security through information and future connections. Well-functioning con-nections are part of society's comprehensive security, and the Ministry's administrative branch plays an important role in ensuring security and operational reliability. The sector is responsible for critical infrastructure that is important for the functioning of society. Through the Ministry's work, we want to make sure that digitalisation and the data economy create sustainable growth and strengthen the trust-based society. that the future transport system is safe, knowledge-based and sustainable; that data-based transport services are efficient and meet customers' needs and that digital connections and the transport network improve Finland's competitiveness and international accessibility.
The management themes of the administrative branch are the organisation's ability to change, re-silience and systemic thinking. The Ministry employs approximately 180 ministries whose daily work is guided by the fairness, courage and cooperation of our values. As your potential future employer, we hope that you too will consider these issues important.
Who are we?
The basic task of the Ministry of Transport and Communications is law drafting. The Ministry prepares acts and decrees for the Senior Ministerial Adviser as well as decisions made in Parliament, presidential sessions and government sessions. The Ministry also issues its own decrees.
One of the Ministry's main tasks is strategic performance guidance in its administrative branch. The administrative branch of the Ministry of Transport and Communications comprises three agencies and three state-owned companies as well as the Finnish broadcasting company, which is under the direct guidance of Parliament. The Ministry steers and supervises the activities of the agencies and companies in its administrative branch. The means of steering include annual performance targets and monitoring the implementation of targets and the use of appropriations. The Ministry monitors the development of agencies and companies in the sector.
We are an expert organisation and over 70% of our personnel have completed a higher university degree. The Ministry employs lawyers, engineers, economists, political scientists and tradenoms, for example.
