Energy Authority – a workplace for future energy builders!

At the Energy Authority, we conduct meaningful work for a cleaner, safer and more competitive Finland. We are tasked with ensuring that the sustainability of the energy sector, security of supply and price are balanced. Join us in leading Finland towards carbon neutrality.

Working for the common good

Our work is effective and visible in the everyday lives of Finns. At the Energy Authority, we are at the forefront of accelerating a carbon-neutral future. We are responsible for the supervision of the energy market and the attainment of climate targets in terms of emissions trading, renewable energy and energy efficiency. The sector is developing rapidly, and we have the opportunity to take part in shaping the future energy system. We influence the functioning of the energy market and the attainment of climate targets in Finland, the Nordic countries and the European Union. We engage in active dialogue with both national and international stakeholders, such as energy companies, research institutes, authorities and NGOs. By engaging in cooperation, we ensure that we utilise extensive expertise and reflect the needs of different parties in our work.

Anything but grey

We are an expert organisation of more than 100 people who work in teams across professional boundaries on topics of societal importance. We are a group of dedicated experts whose common objective is to promote sustainable, efficient and competitive energy and climate policy. Our personnel includes people from business graduates to humanists and engineers to lawyers. We believe that together we can achieve more, which is why almost all work is done in multiprofessional teams. Our personnel are the youngest in state administration; the average age of Energy Authority employees is 38. We act agilely, boldly and actively with or sights set on the future. Our decisions are made on the basis of information, not on the basis of status. Although all our tasks are based on law, we appreciate creativity and problem-solving. We allow ideas to grow without unnecessary bureaucracy or barriers brought about by hierarchy.

We feel that every voice and vision is valuable

We offer our personnel the opportunity to learn and develop in a field that is an essential part of society’s future. We encourage our employees to expand and deepen their own expertise and provide opportunities for both internal and external training. Research has shown that our work community works in a good spirit and people enjoy working here. Our incentive scheme is transparent and we have an annual target bonus. We are committed to working together to maintain a high level of well-being at work. We offer hybrid work and flexible working hours that allow each person to select the working methods suitable for their daily lives. The coping of our employees is important to us. We support our employees with extensive occupational health care and a recreational allowance. We promote and maintain the openness, non-discrimination and equality of our work community.
