This task is related to the government’s goal of hiring 500 young people for new fixed-term positions during 2026. The positions are intended for people aged 18–25 who are applying for their first job with the state.

We are looking for a trainee for tree tissue culture tasks at the Natural Resources Institute Finland’s Savonlinna office. This is a fixed-term position between 6.7.-5.10.2026.

Tasks include laboratory work in the field of tree tissue culture, e.g. initiation and subculture of tissue cultures, preparation of media, and laboratory maintenance. Also tasks in observing and taking care of the produced plants may be included.

We offer the trainee comprehensive orientation and guidance throughout the duration of the employment relationship.

The applicant must be between the ages of 18 and 25 and seeking their first state job, as this position is part of the government’s goal to hire 500 young people for new fixed-term positions in 2026.

We expect the applicant to have:
• interest in plant propagation and research work
• good oral and written skills in Finnish or English
• careful working attitude, hand work skills, ability for group work

We consider the following to be an advantage:
• studies e.g. in biology, agriculture, horticulture, forestry
• experience / knowhow of laboratory work, especially on aseptic working
