This task is related to the government’s goal of hiring 500 young people for new fixed-term positions during 2026. The positions are intended for people aged 18–25 who are applying for their first job with the state.
We are looking for a trainee for tasks in the genomics laboratory at the Natural Resources Institute Finland’s Jokioinen office. This is a fixed-term position between 1.9. - 30.11. 2026.
Tasks include laboratory work in research projects and maintenance work in the genomics laboratory. The research work includes, among other things, DNA extractions from different materials and PCR work. The trainee will have a possibility to get familiar with qPCR, dPCR, Sanger- ja NGS-sequencing. In addition the work may include environmental DNA (eDNA) sampling in the regions of Uusimaa and Varsinais-Suomi as well as at Luke's research cow barn in Jokioinen. In addition the tasks include noting down research data, updating sample databases and transferring data into digital format.
We offer the trainee comprehensive orientation and guidance throughout the duration of the employment relationship.
The applicant must be between the ages of 18 and 25 and seeking their first state job, as this position is part of the government’s goal to hire 500 young people for new fixed-term positions in 2026.
We expect the applicant to have:
• experience in laboratory work
• experience with DNA extraction and PCR methods
• interest in experimental research work
• good written and spoken skills in Finnish and English
• basic proficiency in Microsoft Office programs
• a valid category B driving license
• an independent and proactive working approach, and the initiative to take on tasks
• University or University of Applied Sciences studies in a relevant field
We consider the following to be an advantage:
• experience in sterile laboratory work
