The European Institute for Crime Prevention and Control, affiliated with the United Nations (HEUNI) is an independent research and development institute under the administration of the Ministry of Justice. HEUNI’s research aims to impact national, European and United Nations policies in crime prevention and control. HEUNI strives to improve the position of persons in a vulnerable position and key research themes include human trafficking and related crimes, gender-based violence, the criminal justice system and encountering parties in the process, as well as corruption and economic crime. HEUNI also works to prevent labour exploitation in business and public procurement.
