National Courts Administration

The National Courts Administration carries out the central administrative functions of the judiciary. The role of the National Courts Administration is to ensure that the courts can exercise jurisdiction in a high quality and that the administration of the courts is organised efficiently and appropriately. The National Courts Administration operates in the administrative branch of the Ministry of Justice, but it is an independent agency. The National Courts Administration began its operations in 2020.

The administrative branch of the National Courts Administration includes courts providing services in both Finnish and Swedish. The National Courts Administration must be able to serve the courts in both domestic languages.

An eight-member Board of Directors exercises the highest decision-making power in the National Courts Administration. The daily business of the National Courts Administration is managed by a Director General. The Administration is located in Vantaa, Tikkurila. Around 60 people work at the National Courts Administration.
