We are a licensing and supervisory authority, and our goal is to make Finland safe for everyone.

We protect people, property and the environment from safety risks. We supervise products, services and production systems in our fields of operation and enforce the relevant legislation. Our supervision ranges from bath foams, solar panels and plant protection products to industrial plants. We have succeeded when we go unnoticed. This means that nothing hazardous takes place – we have prevented losses.

FINAS, part of Tukes, is an independent unit which provides accreditation services in accordance with international criteria. Accreditation is used to demonstrate the competence of target groups and the compliance of their operations with requirements defined in international standards. The target groups of the accreditation services include laboratories, inspection bodies, certification and verifier organisations, biobanks and proficiency testing providers.

We employ almost 300 specialists in different fields, including biologists, legal counsels, engineers, sociologists and professionals in humanities. Our specialists have the freedom to independently plan their work while complying with mutually agreed rules for hybrid working. Our offices are located in Helsinki, Tampere and Rovaniemi.
